What Oat Milk companies don’t want you to know
Oat Milk is 𝙉𝙊𝙏 healthy. This one disappointed me since I finally started loving oat milk after growing up on regular milk, I was proud of choosing an alternative to animal milk and thought I was being good to my body by doing so. I was wrong and it’s time to retrain the brain- AGAIN!
Most Oat Milks contain added sugars and rapeseed oil which is canola oil which creates trans fat. Trans fat is the worst kind of fat you can consume, it raises your “bad” cholesterol and lowers your “good” cholesterol. Not to mention most oats have been cross contaminated with gluten which causes inflammation which is the root to ALL illness. Incorporating this into your diet in any way raises the risk of heart disease, the leading killer of adults today!!
Try substituting Oat Milk for Organic Sugar Free Almond Milk, Coconut Milk (Gum-free), Macadamia Milk, Hemp Milk. If you can’t give up Oat Milk than make sure it doesn’t include; Sugar, Gluten, rapeseed oil and is Organic.
There are numerous reasons we try non-dairy milk alternatives. The artificial insemination of cows living in captivity, taking away their babies and using the mothers milk for our morning coffee while ignoring their cries, for one. Although there are benefits to raw organic milk from sustainable farms that treat their cows humanely, this article focuses on non-dairy options. As Author of Food: What the Heck Should I Cook? Dr. Mark Hyman says “An important reason behind this trend is the growing awareness that many people don’t digest dairy well. 60-70 percent of the world’s population is lactose intolerant. This is a deficiency of the enzyme required to break down the sugar (lactose) in cow’s milk. Consumers are more conscious about the way food impacts how they feel.”
Some alternatives to try out!
Swap Silk, Almond Breeze, Simply, Califia for Malk, Thrive Market, New Barn Organics, Three Trees, Oatsome
I feel like they’re constantly finding unique ways to trick us into unhealthy food/drink options while being told it’s the healthy option. It’s just in disguise with a different hat and a shitty mustache. And in most cases we’re charged more for it too! We make our purchase decisions under false pretenses almost every day thanks to good marketing, product placement, half promises and misleading ads and sponsorships. At the end of the day it all comes down to $$$. Profit. Gain. Greed. By covering more markets and more demographics they produce more sales. Ethics and morals don’t exist in the game of 𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲. Only “do what you gotta do”.
We can’t blame them, its all written on the ingredient label, even if it is in twisted words and riddles. We’re the ones too lazy to decode them.
We don’t want to get into it, it’s annoying, it takes up too much time, we don’t know what most of it means. Always leaving it for next time because its “probably fine”. Or we blindly rely on someone else’s recommendation or old habits.
Time to put our glasses on and 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱. 𝗧𝗵𝗲. 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘀.
Time to trust ourselves and take control of what we put inside our bodies.
The body we’re borrowing for this temporary amount of time. The quality of life we can live in x amount of years is up to US and us alone. Our choices. Don’t fall victim to your conveniences. As everything comes at a cost and what once was convenient doesn’t stay convenient down the road.
I just think it’s important to peal the layers and get to a deeper level of consciousness and awareness on what you allow in your body. Then make your own informed decision on what feels right to 𝘺𝘰𝘶.
Make conscious decision making cool again, rather than being a passive bystander.
